HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS AND THE MEDIA

In a four-part series beginning Thursday, The Times takes a look at the increased emphasis the media are placing on coverage of high school sports, the access enjoyed by reporters and potential problems it creates, and how the media are perceived. Among other aspects examined are changes that have occurred in the types of stories and the role of the reporter, and whether a young athlete is sufficiently prepared to deal with the glare of the media spotlight.
