POPULAR IN DEFEAT: Coastline Community College President William Vega didn’t get the job when he recently interviewed for chancellor of the Alamo Community College District in San Antonio. But he’s popular in defeat. . . . The district trustees’ 5-4 vote this week to pick an Anglo chancellor has created a storm of protest from Latinos there--Vega got three of the four dissenting votes. Vega, Coastline president for eight years, was above the fray. He was in Washington for the inauguration.
