MISSION VIEJO — A group of five masked and armed men burst into a Best Products store just before closing Monday night and robbed several jewelry cases before escaping in a red Toyota, according to police and witnesses.
No one was hurt in the 8:50 p.m. robbery, said Lt. Harold Shaffroth of the Sheriff’s Department.
Brandishing handguns, the robbers ran into the store in the 2800 block of Marguerite Parkway, demanded keys to the jewelry cases and told the clerks to get down on the floor, Shaffroth said. When the keys were not produced quickly, two jewelry cases were broken by the suspects and an unknown amount of jewelry stolen, he said.
After the robbery, the men escaped on foot through the bushes behind the store into the Saddleback College parking lot, Brock said. A witness said the suspects drove off in a late model red Toyota Corolla, Shaffroth said.
