Alemany Pinned With a Loss

Alemany High won the battle of the pins Thursday, but lost a war with another Mission League wrestling power.
In a struggle that featured nine falls in 13 bouts, visiting St. John Bosco emerged with a 36-33 victory to hold second place in the league standings with a 3-1 mark. Alemany (1-3) fell into a third-place tie with St. Paul.
Alemany recorded five pins to St. John Bosco’s four. And no team recorded consecutive pins.
In sequence: James Castenada of Alemany (112 pounds) pinned Lazaro Uranga in 1 minute 25 seconds. Rolando Valdivia of St. John Bosco (119) pinned Danny Acuna in 2:50.
Todd Johnson of Alemany (140) pinned Eric Ancog in 1:31. Chuck Rutkocoski of St. John Bosco (140) pinned Luis Garcia in 3:34.
Sal Castillion of Alemany (145) pinned Luis Perez in 5:54. Jared Boyarski of St. John Bosco (152) pinned Tim DeCourters in 1:40.
Willie Arreola of Alemany (160) pinned Paul Vincent in 1:54. Brian Penfold of St. John Bosco (171) pinned Eddie Moran in 4:25. Anthony Vitale of Alemany (189) pinned Jason Almen in 3:03.
Arreola, ranked second in the Southern Section preseason poll at 152 pounds, improved to 20-1. Castenada improved to 21-0.
