SOUTH COAST LEAGUE ROUNDUP : Thornton Makes Nine Three-Pointers for Capistrano Valley

Todd Thornton scored 27 points on nine three-point baskets to help Capistrano Valley defeat Mission Viejo, 80-53, in a South Coast League boys’ basketball game Friday at Capistrano Valley.
The Cougars (14-8, 5-1) led, 42-34, at the half and by 19 points in the third quarter.
Corey Kost had 17 points and David Sedgwick had 12 assists and 10 points. Mission Viejo dropped to 9-11, 3-3.
In other league games:
Dana Hills 67, San Clemente 52--Justin Hinsey scored 31 points and Bob Hefty added 19 for Dana Hills (10-10, 3-3).
Luke Mannix had 23 points for host San Clemente (4-15, 0-6).
Mater Dei 94, El Toro 26--Miles Simon had 22 points to lead Mater Dei (22-1, 6-0) at UC Irvine’s Bren Center. Terence Wilborn added 14 points for the Monarchs. Mater Dei held El Toro (5-14, 1-5) eight points or fewer in each quarter.
