The Cal State Northridge women’s swimming team’s four-meet winning streak was snapped last Saturday in a 123-65 loss to Fresno State. Freshman Heather Ballard won two events and lowered her team-leading 200-yard individual medley time by three seconds to 2 minutes 9.80 seconds. Ballard holds the team’s fastest times in six events this season.
Teammate Denise Lamoureaux, a junior from Burbank High, clocked team bests in the 100 freestyle (54.33) and 200 freestyle (1:55.69) and Nicole Hudson, a senior from Buena High, sprinted to a season-best 25.28 in the 50 freestyle.
Mike Prahm has posted three season-best times for the men’s team. The junior from Orange High has clocked 21.99 in the 50 freestyle, 47.98 in the 100 freestyle, and 1:45.89 in the 200 freestyle. . . . The men’s and women’s teams will finish the dual-meet season at home Friday against Nevada Las Vegas at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday against UC Santa Barbara at 11 a.m.
Men’s basketball: Andre Chevalier was held to eight points by Southern Utah on Saturday, the first time in nine games he failed to score in double figures. . . . The Matadors’ top rebounders were reserves Anthony Moten and Ryan Martin, a guard, with five each. . . .
Emeka Okenwa of The Master’s is ranked third in NAIA District 3 in field-goal percentage at 59.6 and fifth in rebounding with 8.3 a game. Teammate David Humphreys is fourth in assists at 5.4.
