LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Adopt-a-Trail Founders, Making Parks Fee Likely
- Share via
County officials conceded Tuesday that they have had little success persuading businesses to support an Adopt-a-Trail program to maintain county parks, and they indicated that a controversial $23 annual fee for trail use by hikers, bikers and equestrians is likely.
Los Angeles County supervisors said they hoped to make a final decision Tuesday on whether to institute the program or enforce the annual fee. The Los Angeles City Council voted 12 to 0 Tuesday to oppose the annual fee.
County parks officials have said the fee is necessary to raise at least $150,000 a year to maintain trails during a time of budget cuts.
