Rev. Eugene Thomas; Founded Black Religious Weekly

The Rev. Eugene Thomas, 67, founder and publisher of the A Corp. for Christ (ACC) community newspaper, which is distributed weekly in most of the Southland’s African-American churches. Thomas was pastor of the Love of God Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles in 1965 when he founded the religious-oriented publication. He also founded a Food for the Needy program in 1975 and launched one of the Thanksgiving food basket programs in the city. Among his honors was the Rosa Parks award from the Southern California Americans for Democratic Action for his work with young people. In Los Angeles on Sunday of complications of diabetes.
