OJAI : Boy Reported Fair After Transplant
- Share via
One week after undergoing a liver transplant operation, a 14-year-old boy who inspired Ojai Valley residents to raise $112,000 to pay for his surgery remained in fair condition Friday afternoon at a Los Angeles hospital, officials said.
Aaron Clement is happily listening to Metallica and itching to get out of the hospital, his mother, Annie Luftenburg, said.
“His mood is pretty good, considering,” Luftenburg said. “He’s not really in a lot of pain, but the whole thing is really emotional to him. It’s hard for him to believe that someone was willing to give up part of their body.”
Clement underwent seven hours of surgery at UCLA Medical Center last Saturday to replace his cancerous liver with a healthy one from an anonymous Southern California donor.
