OUTLOOK
The Wildcats will be hard-pressed to win another league title. They have won or shared the championship the last three seasons. No school in the county has lost more players than Hiskey, who faces one of his toughest rebuilding jobs in 23 years at the school. His entire varsity roster--15 players--graduated. Five all-league players have graduated--Andy Smith, Matt Priess, Ryan Ott, Matt Selinske and Paul Garcia. Priess, Selinske and Bryan Noyes played in the county all-star game. Ott is on scholarship at Loyola Marymount and Priess is on scholarship at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Replacing them won’t be easy, but Hiskey has a terrific group of young talent to work with. Basically, last season’s junior varsity has been promoted to the varsity level. Egan, Miller and Ward led the junior varsity to a 22-2 record and a second-consecutive league title last season. Ward and Egan should fill in nicely for graduated pitchers Noyes and Smith, and Miller has should promise in center field.
