CINDERELLA: Folk music’s latest sensation, Iris DeMent (F1), tells of how in the early ‘60s her down-and-out family moved from Arkansas to Southern California, the land of stardom, and wound up with a Rolls-Royce in their driveway. . . . Overnight success? Hardly. DeMent’s father worked as a Movieland Wax Museum janitor in Buena Park and drove the museum’s golden Rolls-Royce home regularly for his daughters to wash. They got $10 and a ride for their work.
