Chairwoman Alexander?: Although the White House has not yet officially confirmed any candidates for the National Endowment for the Arts chairmanship, one of those said to be under consideration is actress Jane Alexander. Among her supporters are some arts heavyweights--last week 21 arts personalities, including Michael Douglas, Leo Castelli, Ellsworth Kelly, Peter Martins, Itzhak Perlman, Tony Randall, Frank Stella, Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and Heather Watts, among others, joined in writing to President Clinton to lobby on her behalf.
