Cable Against AIDS: More than 150 celebrities will lend a hand for the Cable AIDS Auction Block, a 12-hour live auction to be broadcast on more than 63 Southland cable systems April 4. The auction, which benefits 25 nonprofit AIDS groups in Southern California, will feature celebrity items donated by Bob Hope, Paul Newman, Whoopi Goldberg, Anjelica Huston, Elton John, Bob Newhart, Richard Gere, Robin Williams and others, as well as items ranging from telephone answering machines and sporting event tickets to fantasy vacations. Marsha Mason will host the event, and other celebrities, including Debbie Allen, Sandy Duncan, Steve Allen, Jayne Meadows, Judith Light, Craig T. Nelson, Luke Perry, John Ritter, Tommy Tune and Michael Jeter.
