Rexhall Industries Shows $137,000 1st-Quarter Profit

Rexhall Industries Inc., a Saugus manufacturer of motor homes, reported a profit of $137,000 for its first quarter, in contrast to a loss of $170,000 a year earlier.
For the three months that ended March 31, the company’s sales climbed 54% from a year earlier, to $5.78 million from $3.76 million. Rexhall attributed the increase to its new Aerbus models, an improving economy and an expanded dealer network outside of California.
Separately, Rexhall said it bought a 97,000-square-foot recreational vehicle manufacturing plant in Elkhart, Ind., from Mallard Coach.
Rexhall said it paid cash for the purchase, but did not disclose how much.
