NEWPORT BEACH : Lonely Mothers to Get Some Company
- Share via
For mothers who have nobody to share Mother’s Day with, Sunday could be a long day.
But this year, those lonely parents can join the first “I Remember Mama” luncheon at the Newport Marriott on Sunday for food and live entertainment.
The free event, sponsored by the Volunteers of America, will begin at noon with music from the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s by Jim Roberts, keyboardist and owner of the Balboa Beach Co., according to Jim de Boom, event coordinator.
County Supervisor Thomas F. Riley and his wife, Emma Jane, will be honorary hosts of the luncheon, along with Newport Beach resident and chairman of Fleetwood Enterprises John Crean and his wife, Donna.
Event organizers are prepared to feed and entertain about 100 mothers. The hotel is at 900 Newport Center Drive.
