Four O.C. Surfers Move to Next Round

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Four Orange County surfers were among those who advanced during the first day of the $28,500 Richie Collins’ Drug Use Is Life Abuse surfing competition Wednesday in waves as high as six feet near the Huntington Beach river jetties.

Jay Lairson and Colin McPhillips both of San Clemente, Cordell Miller of Newport Beach and Ryan Simmons of Seal Beach moved on. Competition starts at 7 a.m. today.
