Thomas’ Drug Trial to Begin Aug. 24

The drug trial of former Los Angeles Dodger and Dorsey High baseball coach Derrel Thomas is scheduled to start Aug. 24, in Los Angeles Superior Court. Jury selection will begin Aug. 19.
He is charged with conspiring to sell, buy and transport cocaine. Thomas, who attended Dorsey, had returned to his alma mater as a walk-on baseball coach shortly before his arrest April 24, 1992.
