Van Nuys Firm Sells Its Electrical-Vehicle Unit

Nordskog Industries Inc. in Van Nuys has sold its electrical-vehicle manufacturing operations in Redlands to Solar Electric Engineering Inc. for $2 million in cash and stocks, the companies said.

Nordskog’s main business is making airline galleys. But since 1946, Nordskog has also been making electrical vehicles for industrial use and buses at its facilities in Redlands. Nordskog Electrical Vehicles’ division had about 45 employees and annual sales of about $3.5 million, said Jerry Nordskog, the former division’s president. Solar Electric is based in Sebastopol, Calif.
