SANTA ANA — A man was beaten and stabbed Friday night by four men after his vehicle ran into another car and he drove away from the scene of the accident, police said.
Demetrio Garcia Vasquez, 22, of Santa Ana was hospitalized overnight and released Saturday from UCI Medical Center in Orange.
However, Vasquez faces charges of drunk driving and hit-and-run for the accident that occurred just before 10 p.m. at 2309 W. Pomona St., Sgt. Dick Faust said.
A car that followed him from the crash scene forced Vasquez off the road at 1620 W. McFadden Ave., Faust said. The occupants beat Vasquez as he sat in his vehicle, then threw him onto the sidewalk and continued beating him, Faust added. Vasquez was stabbed three times and suffered facial wounds, but no life-threatening injuries, the officer said.
Raymond Paniagua, 26, and Richard John Arredondo, 37, both of Santa Ana, were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the beating.
The suspects remained in Orange County Jail on Saturday. Police are seeking two other men in the beating.
