Rio Mesa 32, Channel Islands 0--Quarterback Don DiDomizio ran for 172 yards and passed for 39 more to lead Rio Mesa at home.
The Spartans rushed for 236 yards in the first half and built a 19-0 advantage. Fullback Junior Liufau scored on runs of 25 and 19 yards and tailback John Espinoza scored on a six-yard run. Liufau finished with 71 yards in seven carries and Espinoza added 46 yards in nine rushes.
On the first play of the second half, DiDomizio scored from 59 yards on a misdirection play. Junior quarterback Steve Arneson, who relieved DiDomizio in the third quarter, rushed for 37 yards and completed his only pass, a 33-yard scoring strike to wide receiver Juaquin Evans. Evans caught four passes for 65 yards and one touchdown.
Allen Espiritu rushed for 33 yards and teammate Shannon Lewis gained 32 yards to lead the Raiders. The Spartans amassed 470 total yards and held the Raiders to 117 yards.
