Marion Merrell Chairman to Retire: Marion Merrell Dow Inc. said Joseph Temple Jr. will step down effective Jan. 1. Temple, 64, will be replaced by Fred Lyons Jr., who is president and chief executive officer. Temple will remain a board member of Marion Merrell and Dow Chemical Co., its parent. Lyons will continue as chief executive. Richard Markham will join Marion Merrell as president and chief operating officer. Markham is the former president and chief operating officer of Merck & Co. He has been nominated to the Marion Merrell board. Marion Merrell, based in Kansas City, Mo., makes and markets prescription and over-the-counter medications.
