PC Users Can Pick Up Where They Left Off: IBM is the first computer maker to put an automatic “resume” feature, a kind of electronic bookmark, into a desktop personal computer. IBM’s Rapid Resume eliminates the need to save files before turning a computer off. The move by International Business Machines Corp. breaks with the industry tradition of putting top technology first in the most expensive computer models. Rapid Resume is in 27 of the 30 new PS-1 models the company began selling in nearly 6,000 stores this week. And it can be added to the other three.
