SCHOOL: Harvard-Westlake
SPORT: Volleyball
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: The 5-foot-8 setter has averaged eight set assists a game to lead the Wolverines, ranked second in Southern Section Division II.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Powers had 32 assists to spearhead Harvard-Westlake’s five-game victory over Mission League rival Bishop Montgomery, ranked second in Division II at the time. Two days later, she injured an elbow in a match against Louisville and sat out the second game, which the Wolverines lost, 15-0. She returned in game three, and Harvard-Westlake promptly won the next two games and the match. Powers had 26 assists and 15 blocks. “She’s a tough customer,” Coach King Schofield said. “The one thing that makes her stand out from last year is that she’s a much stronger emotional leader on the floor.” Powers was an All-Southern Section Division II selection last season.
