MIAMI — Tens of thousands of Cuban exiles marched in the streets of Miami on Saturday to show opposition to Cuban President Fidel Castro.
Police estimates of the crowd were put as high as 100,000.
During the peaceful three-hour rally, marchers burned Castro in effigy and shouted “Cuba, Cuba,” and “War, war.”
The march was organized by several Miami-based Cuban exile groups, whose leaders say they hope to encourage other anti-Castro demonstrations and an eventual revolution in their Communist-ruled homeland.
