SOUTH-CENTRAL : Charter School Decision Delayed
- Share via
Teachers from 99th Street School who have submitted a charter proposal to open the Accelerated School will have to wait even longer to receive school board approval.
The Los Angeles school board decided Tuesday to delay a decision on the group’s charter proposal, which calls for the creation of a school funded with state money but financially and academically autonomous from the district. The new school could accommodate about 200 elementary students.
Instead, the district’s administrative staff will make a recommendation to the school board Nov. 1 as to whether the Accelerated School charter proposal or another charter proposal, Options for Youth in Hollywood, will be selected as the district’s 10th and final charter.
