Thank you for continuing to run Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau during his current treatment of the possibility of one of his characters being gay. I appreciated your staying with the AIDS episodes some time ago, but in the current climate of conservative backlash and the controversy surrounding gay issues, I have no doubt that The Times has heard with even more stridency from the far right.
Living as I do in the cradle of political reactionism--deep Orange County--it is gratifying to know that I have access to a saner world beyond the Orange Curtain.
