David Fielder made the kicks and defensive back Matthew Taras made the picks to lead Crescenta Valley High to a 23-21 victory over Pasadena in a Pacific League game Friday night at Pasadena City College.
Fielder made three of five field-goal attempts, including one of a school-record 52 yards as time expired in the first half to cap a 20-point second quarter for Crescenta Valley (6-1, 2-0 in league play). He also made a 43-yard effort with two minutes left in the half and a 25-yard effort in the first quarter.
Taras had two of the three Falcon interceptions against quarterback Chris McAllister of Pasadena (3-4, 0-2). He returned one 28 yards for a touchdown and the second came with 29 seconds to play at the Crescenta Valley 31-yard line to preserve the victory.
