Xerox Corp. to Unveil New Photographic Process: On Monday, the Stamford, Conn.-based company will announce a new dry process of developing film, designed to render obsolete the silver-halide film process now used in the $1.8-billion-a-year professional printing industry. Because it eliminates the need for chemical processing, the new VerdeFilm process will be environmentally safer, Xerox said. VerdeFilm uses heat and electromagnetic charges to capture images. At least for now, the technology is not applicable to the consumer photography market.
