Dedication Jan. 21 for School Classrooms : EL SEGUNDO : Dedication to Be Held for School Classrooms

Center Street Elementary School in El Segundo will hold a ceremony Jan. 21 to dedicate six new portable classrooms--made possible by the City Council’s annual gift to the school district of $750,000.
The prefabricated, air-conditioned classrooms allow the school to reduce the average size of its first- and second-grade classrooms from 30 to 25 students, Principal Kathy Koop said.
One of the new portable rooms will house a computer lab. “We had computers,” Koop said, “but we had them crowded into a half of a classroom. Now, whole classes will be able to use the computers at the same time.”
To raise money to fill the lab with new Macintosh computers, the school will sponsor a 5-kilometer run Feb. 5.
