COLLEGE ROUNDUP : CSUN Wins Three of Four in Volleyball

The Cal State Northridge men’s volleyball team won three of four matches Friday on the opening day of the 30th UC Santa Barbara Invitational in Goleta.
The Matadors defeated Fresno State, 15-2, 15-3, and La Verne, 15-12, 15-8, but lost to Pepperdine, 15-9, 15-10 in group play, before defeating Hawaii, 15-7, 15-10, in pool play.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Diana Cortez missed a triple double by one point to lead Cal Lutheran to a 79-67 victory over Redlands for its first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory.
Cortez finished with nine points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists.
Nicole Albert scored 17 points to lead Cal Lutheran (5-6, 1-1 in conference play). Redlands (5-6, 0-1) was led by Lisa Wewers with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Regals jumped to a 7-0 lead and led by two points at halftime.
Cal Lutheran led by as many as 17 points in the second half as the Regals shot 63% from the field after halftime.
In another women’s basketball game:
Biola 73, The Master’s 55--Rachel Schweiger scored 25 points to lead the Eagles in a nonconference game.
Master’s (3-8) was led by Sharlene Tevelde with 16 points and Kim Douries with 14.
