VENTURA : Coach Suspended on Sex Charges
Ventura High School’s swim coach has been put on formal suspension without pay because of allegations that he had sex with two students and made sexually suggestive comments to others, officials said Monday.
Coach Dale Hahn, 44, had been on paid leave since before Thanksgiving when the accusations surfaced. But late last week, after a meeting with a district administrator, Hahn was notified that he would no longer be paid, said Supt. Joseph Spirito.
The Ventura Unified School District is trying to dismiss Hahn and recently filed a list of 90 allegations against him with the state Office of Administrative Hearings. Before the dismissal is final, a formal hearing must be held giving Hahn a chance to refute the allegations before an administrative law judge.
Spirito said that hearing will probably be held in June.
Meanwhile, the district is searching for a replacement swim coach because the competitive season starts in one month. A substitute teacher has taken over Hahn’s science classes.
