A 69-year-old woman who was shot in the eye when she refused to give her purse to a pair of teen-age boys died at a hospital Thursday, and two youths arrested in the shooting may now face murder charges, authorities said.
Amalia Sison, who had been a volunteer for the Foundation for the Junior Blind, died at UCLA Medical Center in Westwood after being hospitalized there since the Monday morning attack at 54th Street and Alviso Avenue in the Windsor Hills area, said sheriff’s spokesman Rich Erickson.
Two boys, ages 15 and 17, were arrested in the shooting and robbery attempt. Investigators will seek murder charges against them, Erickson said.
