BOYLE HEIGHTS : Youth Center Gets Grant for Expansion
- Share via
The Hollenbeck Youth Center raised $152,000 at a 1,000-person luncheon last week and was awarded a $200,000 grant from the city to complete its expansion project.
The center, at 2015 East 1st St., started adding a third story for weightlifting areas and offices in 1988, said Mike McClure, program director. The project was placed on hold for two years as city money to the center was cut.
With the grant from the city Community Development Department, the youth center construction could begin in April and be completed within two months.
