Flight Attendants Won’t Join Buyout: The union representing 18,000 United Airlines attendants won’t participate in a proposed buyout of UAL, the carrier’s parent company, by other labor groups. The Assn. of Flight Attendants, AFL-CIO said it was unable to reach an agreement with United. The two sides agreed on contract issues related to United’s planned short-haul operation, but other issues, such as United’s weight restrictions for flight attendants, created an impasse, the union said.
