‘The Package’

There’s no wasted motion in this 1989 post- glasnost thriller in which an Army sergeant, wrongly wanted for murder, stumbles onto an international anti-disarmament conspiracy. The movie races from scene to scene, country to country, with the breakneck velocity of a motorcycle crashing through a computer room. Director Andy Davis (“The Fugitive”) and his editors keep the film blasting along, from a brisk Berlin peace conference opener to a wild finish: Gene Hackman’s Sgt. Gallagher (left, with Tommy Lee Jones) racing under the El, with a popeyed grimace that’s a homage to “The French Connection.” (KTLA Thursday at 8 p.m.)
