Official Sentenced in Drunk Driving

SACRAMENTO — State Food and Agriculture Secretary Henry J. Voss, who was arrested Dec. 17 on a drunk-driving charge after leaving a holiday party at the home of Gov. Pete Wilson, has pleaded no contest in Sacramento Municipal Court.
A first-time offender, Voss, 62, received the usual sentence for driving under the influence, including three years’ informal probation and $1,350 in fines and court costs. In lieu of 48 hours in jail, a work program was recommended for Voss, a customary option.
Voss’ blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.16%, twice the legal limit. He was arrested shortly after leaving the party when an officer saw his car straddling the center line.
