CHINATOWN : 2 Journalists to Be Honored

Two Chinese American television journalists will be honored by the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California at its annual spring banquet fund-raiser April 23 at the new Ming’s Pavilion Restaurant, 911 N. Broadway.
Frank Kwan, a longtime producer at KNBC-TV Channel 4, and Sam Chu Lin, an ABC-TV network reporter, will receive the society’s awards for pioneering achievements in their fields. The honorees will also speak about their experiences during a panel discussion moderated by actress and television producer Beulah Quo.
Tickets range from $35 to $50, with proceeds going toward the restoration of a historic Chinese shrine at Evergreen Cemetery in East Los Angeles. The dinner begins at 6 p.m.
The society is a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1975 to preserve and promote appreciation of the Chinese American heritage in Southern California.
