PREP ROUNDUP : Relay Victory Helps El Toro Upset Capistrano Valley

Colin Lavin anchored the winning mile relay team to give El Toro a 69-67 upset victory over first-place Capistrano Valley in South Coast League boys’ track and field Thursday at El Toro.
The Chargers trailed Capistrano Valley, 67-64, going into the mile relay.

Girls’ track--A story in Friday’s Times incorrectly stated that a girls’ 200-meter school record had been set at Laguna Hills High. The record is still held by Nedra Lyons, 25.5 seconds in 1983.
Travis Harr played a key role for El Toro, winning the 110 hurdles in 16.3 and the 300 hurdles in 40.6.
In the Century League:
Foothill 80, Canyon 56--Troy Langley of Canyon jumped 6-10 1/4, the best high jump in the county this season. His jump also set a Canyon record.
In the Freeway League:
Sonora 74, Sunny Hills 53--Mark Gonzalez won the 100 (11.1), 200 (23.0) and triple jump (38-5) for Sonora (5-1, 3-1).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 101, Laguna Beach 16--Jesse McDonald set the school record in the discus (168-8 1/2) for Laguna Hills (6-1, 4-0).
In the Sea View League:
Woodbridge 82, Newport Harbor 53--Tony Muniz won the high jump (6-0), long jump (22-0 1/2) and triple jump (45-2) for Woodbridge (6-0, 6-0).
In the Sunset League:
Marina 102, Servite 34--Aron Bergman ran personal bests in the 100 meters (11.2) and 200 meters for Marina. The Vikings remain undefeated with a 7-0, 6-0 record.
In Century League girls’ track and field:
Canyon 77, Foothill 50--Kim Nelson won the 800 (2:30.3), 1,600 (5:44.1) and Nelson, Megan Gillespie and Allison Bunton tied for first in the 3,200 (13:00) to lead Canyon (4-0, 4-0).
In the Empire League:
Katella 95, Cypress 27--Stacy Wright won the high jump (4-8), long jump (15-6), triple jump (33-0) and placed second in the 100 hurdles for Katella (5-2, 3-1).
In the Freeway League:
Troy 94, Fullerton 32--Emily Keeler won the 100 (12.3), 220 (27.3), the triple jump (33-1) and ran the anchor leg of the winning 440 relay (54.1) for Troy.
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 84, Kennedy 39--Jaime Jenks won the 800 (2:56.8), 1,600 (6:23.6) and the 3,200 (13:56) for undefeated Bolsa Grande (6-0).
In the Orange League:
Brea-Olinda 102, Western 24--Sophomore Sommer Bomgaars jumped a personal best 5-0 in the high jump for Brea-Olinda.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 104, Laguna Beach 14--Tiffany Boykin set the school record in the 200 (27.4) and Amy Colton set the school record in the discus (104-0 1/2) to lead Laguna Hills (5-3, 4-1).
In the Sea View League:
Santa Margarita 84, Irvine 37--Heather Novak won the 100 hurdles (16.2), long jump (17-2) and triple jump (35-4) to lead Santa Margarita (6-0, 6-0).
In the Sunset League:
Marina 110, Rosary 17--Jenny Benson ran a personal best in the 200 meters (27.1) and equaled her personal best in the 100 meters (13.0) for Marina (5-2, 4-2).
South Coast League gymnastics:
Capistrano Valley 165.4, Dana Hills 41.6--Joslin Gemsch won the all-around for the Cougars (9-0, 5-0), with a score of 31.4.
In Orange League golf:
Western 185, Magnolia 222--Tiger Woods shot a three-under 32 for Western (10-4, 5-2) at Dad Miller. Included in his round was an eagle on the par-four 12th hole.
