* Certainly you misspeak!
The Red Cars did not “die out,” as you suggest in Newswatch (“Riding Past,” April 20), they were murdered. A conspiracy of oil companies, auto and tire manufacturers systematically bought the rights of way and did in the Red Cars during the ‘40s and ‘50s.
This resulted in our dependence upon the automobile as our single and decadent source of transportation.
