More than 90 firefighters battled a smoky blaze in a garment industry building in South-Central Los Angeles for about an hour Monday night before bringing the fire under control.
Fire Department spokesman Jim Featherstone said the fire at the Crown Fashion plant at 5915 S. Avalon Blvd. broke out about 6 p.m. and moved rapidly through the sprawling, single-story structure. Nine employees initially thought to be missing were later accounted for, and there were no reports of injury.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, officials said. There was no immediate estimate of damage.
