Where Are They Now? : TOMMY DAVIS
Davis was a high school basketball standout in New York and, according to scouts, had a good shot at making the NBA. But Jackie Robinson helped to persuade him that baseball was his true calling.
The outfielder and occasional third-baseman spent the first seven of his 18 big league seasons with the Dodgers, leading the National League in batting in 1962 and ’63. His .346 average and 153 runs batted in in ’62 remain single-season records for the Los Angeles franchise.
Davis, 55, owns a company that specializes in producing promotional caps and other items. A resident of San Bernardino County, he also gives private batting lessons to children and adults.
