Southern California Christian’s baseball team will forfeit eight victories because high school officials discovered it had been using an ineligible player, Coach Bert Esposito said Thursday.
The Flames, the third-ranked team in Division VI, had their record changed to 5-12-1 from 13-4-1. They beat La Verne Lutheran, 2-1, Thursday to improve to 6-12-1, 2-5 in the Arrowhead League.
“We hope the section will allow us to compete in the playoffs as a wild-card team now,” Esposito said.

After three seasons, Tony McCabe has resigned as Fullerton boys’ basketball coach, he said.
The Indians were 30-22 under McCabe, who plans to return to Cal State Fullerton to complete his master’s degree in physical education.
“I’m taking a year off, just to step back,” said McCabe, who also coached cross-country last season. “I’ve been coaching for 14 years, maybe I was a little burned out.”
