Police arrested a Port Hueneme man after he allegedly struck a 10-year-old bicyclist, then dragged her bike under his van for two blocks before fleeing.
Jaime Mojica Prado, 29, was being held Monday in Ventura County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, driving under the influence of alcohol and evading an officer. His bail is $5,000. Arraignment was set today.
Police said they arrested Prado on Sunday evening after a van he was driving on Scott Street hit a parked car and struck Kelly Noble, who was riding her bike on the sidewalk.
Noble was knocked off her bike and received minor injuries, police said. Her bike became wedged under Prado’s van as he fled after the crash, police said.
Officers saw Prado several blocks later at Hueneme and Saviers roads. He led them on a brief chase that ended at Edison Road, which dead-ends, and was arrested without incident, police said.
