Fluor Daniel Inc.: The company said Thursday it has contracted with Union Carbide Corp. to build a plant in Taft, La. The terms were not disclosed.
The plant is scheduled to begin operating in late 1995 and will employ 450 workers. Construction will start in September on the facility, which will produce butanol.
In addition, Fluor Daniel said it will contract with a division of Levi Strauss & Co. to design three customer services centers in Kentucky, Nevada and Mississippi. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Fluor Daniel is a division of Fluor Corp., the giant Irvine construction and engineering corporation.
