The city’s Adult Day Health Center is scheduled to open next month alongside a new senior facility in Woodbridge village.
The center will provide frail and ill seniors with medically supervised care during the day, as well as other health services.
Officials plan to welcome the facility’s first clients July 5. An open house for seniors and their families is scheduled for July 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. For enrollment information, call (714) 724-6950.
The health facility is next to the Irvine Senior Center, which opened in April. The senior center boasts meeting rooms, a library, auditorium, activity rooms and a large kitchen that will be used for a meals-on-wheels program.
The two facilities make up a 5,600-square-foot complex that officials hope will become a central location for senior services and events.
The senior center hosts a variety of activities such as exercise classes, health lectures and dances.
The day-care center is designed to assist seniors with a variety of health problems, including arthritis and Alzheimer’s disease. The center will also provide care for people who have had strokes or other debilitating illnesses.
Clients will receive hot meals, nursing services and various forms of counseling.
Officials are developing a transportation system that will provide users with rides to and from the center.
