Markee Brown will be one of five Los Angeles City College basketball players competing in the 5th annual West Coast Junior College Camp at UC Riverside, July 15-17.
Games start at 2:45 p.m. on July 15, 9:30 a.m. on July 16 and 11 a.m. on July 17.
The three-day event features 46 players from 28 teams.
Players include 6-2 Davy Fortson of Santa Monica, former Dorsey High star, 6-5 Rashaan Johnson of Ventura and 6-4 Larry Reed of Oxnard.
Brown, a 6-2 sophomore, led the Cubs in scoring last year at 18 points a game and is considered one of the top community college prospects for next season.
Joining Brown will be sophomores Sai Tuialli, formerly of South Gate, and Derrick Brown; and freshmen Charles Adams and Calvin Patterson, formerly a Fremont guard.
Patterson, a 6-2 guard who, like Brown, is a premier three-point shooter, was a 1994 City Times All-Star First Team selection.
LACC will also be competing in the Ballstars Junior College All-American Camp July 9-11 at Vincennes University in Indiana and July 29-31 at the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
The Ballstars Camp is open to 1995 sophomores-to-be, unsigned 1994 sophomores still seeking a school and incoming junior college freshmen who want to compete.
The camp fee is $170.
Players from colleges in California, New York, Texas, Florida and Michigan will compete.
