Dead Alive (Cinemax Sunday at 9:45 p.m.) Peter Jackson’s 1993 gross-out horror picture comedy may well be the most hilariously disgusting movie ever made, seemingly ingesting the yuckiest sequences of every schlock cheapie of the last two decades--and sending up all of them via wretched excess.
The Stone Boy (HBO Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.) A splendid, compassionate, clear-eyed depiction of how a Montana farm family gradually comes to terms with its younger son’s accidental killing of his older brother. With Jason Presson in the title role, Glenn Close and Robert Duvall as his parents, Wilford Brimley as his grandfather and Frederic Forrest in one of his best portrayals.
