Inspiration From Out of India Fits Children to a Tee

Children learned how to decorate a T-shirt in the style of India at the Fullerton Museum Center on Tuesday.

Instructor Aimee Kraus displayed different batik fabrics and showed how to dip a paper towel into food dye to create a psychedelic design. She also explained to the 29 children attending the workshop the meaning behind some Indian symbols, such as the tree of life, and the origin of the ancient paisley print that imitates either a mango or peacock feathers.

As sitar music played in the background, the children used fabric paint markers to decorate T-shirts with Indian-inspired designs. The center offers hands-on art workshops for children on Super Tuesdays during the summer. The cost is $5. Reservations are required. (714) 738-6545
