An earthquake shook North County at 3:28 p.m. Wednesday, but with a magnitude of about 2.5, it went mostly unnoticed.
The shaker was centered two miles east-southeast of Brea, said Caltech seismology lab spokesman Jay Aller.
Brea police said no damage was reported, and the department received only three or four calls from residents.
“They thought it was an explosion,” said Martha Garza, who works in the records department. “They didn’t know what it was.”
No damage was reported in surrounding areas, police said.
