Brian Oliver of Woodland Hills defeated Regelio Hernandez of San Diego, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, after upsetting second-seeded David Mabbutt of San Francisco in L.A. Open pre-qualifying at Studio City.
Al Martinez of Hidden Hills also reached the quarterfinals by defeating former Pierce College teammate Kasper Nielson, 6-2, 7-6.
Softball
The William S. Hart 10-and-under all-star team defeated Westlake-Agoura, 9-0, in Sparks, Nev., to win the Amateur Softball Assn. of America’s Pacific Coast title.
